Elizabethton Housing & Development Agency
Applications are taken on a first come, first serve basis. Once you arrive at the Administration Office,
please sign-in on the PUBLIC HOUSING SIGN-IN SHEET.
Please try to have the information for each person in the household with you when you apply. Also,
everyone that is 18 years old or older that will be in the household needs to be present during the
application process so that all the necessary forms may be completed and have a photo ID.
PROOF OF INCOME
The verification that you provide cannot be older than sixty (60) days. The verification you provide must
show the gross amount that you receive and how frequently it is paid to you. Here are a few examples
of how you can help verify your INCOME:
Employment: Name/address of employer and two to four paycheck stubs,consecutively dated.
Unemployment: A printout from unemployment office stating payment date and amounts.
Odd jobs: Notarized statements, affidavits or income tax returns signed by the applicant
describing self-employment and amount of income or income from tips and other
gratuities.
Child support: A divorce decree stating the amount and payment
schedule; or the case ID number.
TANF: A printout from DHS stating the dates and payment amounts.
Pension: A printout from the Agency paying the benefit.
Social Security: A printout from the Social Security Administration.
SSI: A printout from the Social Security Administration.
Bank Accounts: At least two bank statements that indicate the current balance and interest
paid to date (whether is it a checking, savings, CD etc.).
PROOF OF BIRTH
The individual’s birth certificate.
PROOF OF MARRIAGE OR DIVORCE
Marriage license
Final divorce decree
SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER
Bring the individual family member’s social security card.
REFERENCES:
Please have available the name, address and telephone number of any previous landlords that you
have rented from.
If you have never rented before, we will use information provided by: previous employers, supervisors,
case workers, social workers, counselors, ministers, teachers, probation officers and people of this
nature. Etc.
We can not rent to you without references. Please have information available when you apply.
